Led by senior Cybil Covic’s 60th place overall finish, 41st in team scoring, the Lynx placed 26th out of 32 teams at the NCAA Division III National Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.

   After a week off from competition, the Rhodes College Women's Cross Country Team continued their impressive season with a 3rd place finish in the College Division at the Gibson Family Collegiate Cross Country Meet.

    After two weeks of rain and dreary conditions there was a break in the clouds on Saturday at Shelby Farms.  With the new course having been beaten up by continuous rain and three high school races beforehand, the women's team used their home field advantage and raced to the meet win.

11.22.08 | Women's Cross Country
Freshman Taylor Stephens capped off her amazing freshman cross country season with All-American Honors.  Stephens placed 35th out of 279 runners in a time of 21:44.90 for 6k.  She was the only freshman to garner All-American Honors in the men's and women's races.  Junior Cybil Covic finished a very successful season with an 86th place finish in a time of 22:21.97.  Luckily, both return for for next year's cross country season along with seven other Lynx women.

11.20.08 | Women's Cross Country
Taylor Stephens' freshman year was full of accomplishments.  She placed  top ten in each regular season race she ran, won the SCAC individual title, and last week won the South/Southeast Region individual title qualifying for the NCAA Championships this weekend.  For her accomplishments, Taylor has been awarded the Female Athlete of the Year Award for the South/Southeast Region in cross country.

11.15.08 | Women's Cross Country
Freshman Taylor Stephens won the South/Southeast Region Meet in Seguin, TX.  She is the second Lynx women to win the region meet and did so in a time of 21:55.  Cybil Covic (JR)  placed 9th overall and advanced to the National Championship Meet in Hanover, IN.  The women's team had a strong run to place fourth overall in the meet.

11.1.08 | Women's Cross Country
The Lynx women placed third as a team at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Cross Country Championships.  As they have been all year, the women's team was led by Taylor Stephens who captured her first SCAC Cross Country individual title.  She ran a 21:30 over 6,000m to beat a very good field of collegiate runners.  Placing 7th and also receiving All-Conference recognition was Cybil Covic.  The women's team scored 87 points with Sandy Henin placing 23rd, Caroline Webster placing 24th, and Melissa DeFabrizio placing 32nd overall.

10.19.08 | Women's Cross Country

The women's cross country team travled to the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh this weekend to face some of the top Division III programs in the country. Finishing a solid 13th out of 30 teams, the Lynx were lead by freshman Taylor Stephens (Southlake, TX), who finished 7th overall in a field of 415 runners.

10.4.08 | Women's Cross Country
The women's cross country team finishes in fifth place at the Pre-National meet held by Hanover College. Top finishers for the Lynx were freshman Taylor Stephens coming in 4th place at 21:51.60 and junior Cybil Covic crossed the finish line in 22:52.33 earning 10th place.

9.27.08 | Women's Cross Country
The women's cross country team placed 1st out of 15 teams at the 2008 Rhodes Cross Country Invitational held at Plough Park.  Rhodes scored 56 points to edge out second place Berry College at 69 points.  Leading the women were Taylor Stephens who won in a time of 18:16 and Cybil Covic who placed 5th in a time of 19:32.

Stephanie Mingos
Women's Golf
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Stephanie Mingos as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
In the last month, Mingos put together an impressive campaign, winning three of her last four tournaments.  Her most recent victory came at the SCAC Championships, where Mingos captured Rhodes' first SCAC individual title since 2002, winning by a 6 stroke deficit over several of the nation's top players.
 
Her three day total of 14 over par is a new SCAC record, topping the previous mark of 17 over par by three-time SCAC champion Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern. Mingos' performance earned her first team All-SCAC and SCAC Player of the Year honors.
Chris Conkell
Baseball
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Chris Conkell as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
The Lynx starting catcher managed a .458 batting average (22/48), 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored during the month of April. Durning this time, Conkell harnessed a 13 game hitting streak, hitting safely in every game for the month.
 
He was also named to the SCAC All-Tournament team after his performance in the conference tournament. His batting average of .412, 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored in the tournament led him to be one of three players who were unanimous selections to the team.
