            Rhodes College (Memphis, TN) announces its inaugural Men's Lacrosse captains for the 2012 season.

Rhodes loses to Trinity University on Friday January 27th, 66 to 50, but comes back strong on Saturday January 28th to defeat Southwestern University 59 to 37, to split their weekend series in San Antonio. Story to come.

 Rhodes used a balanced attack to down Southwestern (TX) 74-67 in a SCAC road win at Georgetown, TX on Saturday, January 28th.  Junior center Mary Barber (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore guard Lauren Avant (Memphis, TN) led the Lynx scoring attack with 13 points apiece.

    The Rhodes Men's Swim team closed their regular season with wins over Berry College and Hendrix College Saturday afternoon.  In their final duel meet of the season, the Lynx traded leads with Berry College throughout the day on their way to a 62-58 victory.  The Vikings of Berry started the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay before freshman standout Chad Bohls got the team on track by winning the 1000 in a time of 10:28.55, which was good for a 5 second drop from his previous season best time.  Matthew Washnock followed with his best 200 Free of the season, turning in a 1:53.64, which was good for second.  He was joined in the event by Tyler Mathews, who also turned in his best time of the season with a 1:55.46.

    The Rhodes College Women's Swim Team closed out it's 2011-2012 Regular Season with huge wins over Berry and Hendrix, defeating Berry 80-41 and Hendrix 91-30.  The Lynx were led by several standout performers including Kelsey Wilson, who won the 50 in a time of 25.69, the 100 in a time of 55.44, and the 500 in a time of 5:23.53, Susanna Kirby, who won the the 200 Free in a time of 2:03.82, and Hannah Emery, who won the 200 Fly in a time of 2:20.20.

1.27.12 | Women's Basketball
 Rhodes rallied late for a 97-90 overtime win against Trinity University, in San Antonio, TX on Friday, January 27th.  Trailing 75-72 with under three seconds to play, sophomore Amy Handelman (Jackson, MS) went to the foul line and hit the first of two foul shots to make the score 75-73.

The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the 2011 fall Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll and Rhodes was 2nd out of 12 institutions in the number of fall sport student-athletes who achieved a 3.25+ 1st semester gpa. Rhodes student-athletes have consistently ranked #1 or #2 in the SCAC in academic achievement.

Sharwil Bell
Women's Basketball
As the co-captain of the 2011-2012 squad, Sharwil has continued to dominate on the hard-court for the Lady Lynx.  On December 29th, she became the 13th player in school history to surpass the 1,000 point mark, averaging 16.6 points per game throughout her career.  Her accolades for this season include d3hoops.com preseason All-American, SCAC Player of the Week (12/19- 1/2), and SCAC Character and Community Athlete of the Week (12/25-1/1). 
Andrew Galow
Men's Basketball
Currently leading the Lynx in scoring for the 2011-2012 season, Galow averages 15.3 points per game and has helped the team to their current record of 12-6.  Andrew also boasts some impressive stats; currently leading the team in scoring, assists, steals, and defensive rebounds.  Earning conference recognition, Galow was named the SCAC Player of the Week for 11/28-5/5.
