1.31.2010 | Field Hockey
The Lynx field hockey team placed 15 players on the Fall 2009 SCAC Honor Roll.  The team averaged a 3.37 GPA, their best in team history to go along with their most successful season on the field (13-4).  Junior Libby Feaster and senior Kristen Lee led the Lynx in the classroom each earning a 4.0 this past fall.  Rhodes placed more fall students athletes (101 total) on the team than any other SCAC institution.

Senior Kristen Lee, a defender from Louisville, KY, was selected to the SCAC Field Hockey All Sportsmanship Team.  A dedicated player, leader, and teammate, Lee continually serves as a role model for her peers exhibiting excellent sportsmanship at all times.

Senior goalkeeper Meghan Cullen and junior midfielder Charlie Wagner were selected as Longstreth/NFHCA Third Team All Americans.  The pair of players are the program's first All American honorees.  Wagner and Cullen helped the Lynx to a 13-4 this fall, securing the most wins in program history.

The Lynx continue to garner post season awards after their 13-4 SCAC Championship season.  Senior Meghan Cullen and juniors Charlie Wagner and Lindsey Gurkovich were named First Team Regional All Americans while senior Kristen Lee and sophomore Sarah Kennedy were named to the Second Team.

The Lynx accounted for 4 of 12 positions on the 2009 All SCAC Field Hockey Squad with Meghan Cullen, Lindsey Gurkovich, Kristen Lee, and Charlie Wagner earning recognition.  Teammates Libby Feaster and Sara Sanders received SCAC Honorable Mention.  The Lynx, at 13-4, set a new program record for wins as well as winning percentage and finished the year ranked #12 nationally in goals against average.

11.3.09 | Field Hockey
Charlie Wagner, a midfielder from Madison, NJ, earned SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for games played October 26-November 1.  Wagner scored both goals in the Lynx 2-1 overtime win at Centre this weekend.  Charlie is the first Rhodes player to earn both offensive and defensive player of the week honors in the same season.

Meghan Cullen, a senior goalkeeper from Chapel Hill, NC, earned SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played October 26 - November 1.  Cullen recorded the win in the Lynx 2-1 victory at Centre that clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title for the team.  Meghan is currently 3rd in the nation in save percentage at .872.

The Lynx field hockey game today at Transylvania has been cancelled due to poor field conditions.  The #1 seed in next weekend's conference tournament at Hendrix, Rhodes will play Saturday, November 7th, at 11 am.  The Lynx will face the winner of Sewanee vs. Hendrix.

10.30.09 | Field Hockey
The Lynx Field Hockey team clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title and the #1 seed in next weekend''s conference tournament with a 2-1 win in overtime at Centre tonight.  Charlie Wagner scored both goals for Rhodes on penalty corners on assists from Lindsey Gurkovich.  The Lynx (11-4, 7-1 SCAC) play at Transylvania tomorrow at 10:30 am.

Sara Sanders, a sophomore defender from Louisville, KY, had 3 stellar performances this week in the Lynx 3-1 loss to #9 Lynchburg, and two wins at home over Sewanee and DePauw.  Sara has incredible ball control and a strong hit which make her a threat offensively as well as huge factor on the defensive end.

10.25.09 | Field Hockey

Charlie Wagner led the way for the Lynx today assisting on the eqaulizer and scoring the game winner in today's 2-1 victory over Sewanee.  Chelsea McLeod scored the Lynx first goal while Kristen Lee and Sara Sanders held down the defensive end, limiting Sewanee to 3 shots on the day.  Rhodes (10-4, 6-1 SCAC) will battle Centre for the regular season conference title in Danville this Friday, 10/30, at 7 pm.

10.23.09 | Field Hockey
The Lynx started off strong and never looked back dominating in tonight's 2-0 victory over DePauw.  Lindsey Gurkovich paced the Lynx offense with a goal and an assist, Sarah Kennedy scored the game winner just 8 minutes into play and Chelsea McLeod added an assist on the evening as well.  Charlie Wagner controlled the middle of the field with precision and tenacity, getting to every ball within reach and distributing wide and through with accuracy.  Rhodes hosts Sewanee on Sunday morning at 10 am.
