4.29.2010 | Field Hockey
After leading the Lynx to their best season yet from the center midfield position Charlie Wagner adds team MVP to her list of season honors.  The Lynx finished 13-4, 9-1 SCAC behind Charlie's skillful and tenacious play.  Wagner also earned All SCAC and All Great Lakes Region honors for the third time in three seasons and was one of two Rhodes players selected as Third Team All Americans in 2009.

The Lynx field hockey program excitedly announces the addition of Megan Spangler to the coaching staff.  Megan is a four year start at York College of Pennsylvania where she was twice honored with All Conference accolades and served as a captain her senior year.  As the Lynx first full time assistant Megan will play an integral role in all facets of the program.

4.07.2010 | Field Hockey
Rhodes Field Hockey continues to celebrate their 2009 season with more honors in the classroom with include the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Team Award.  The Lynx also placed 11 players on the NFHCA's National Academic Squad this past fall.  The team averaged a 3.37 GPA this past fall while capturing the 2009 SCAC Championship and amassing the best record in program history, 13-4.  The team is excited to improve upon both marks in 2010 as they continue to work hard on and off the field in the off season.

1.31.2010 | Field Hockey
The Lynx field hockey team placed 15 players on the Fall 2009 SCAC Honor Roll.  The team averaged a 3.37 GPA, their best in team history to go along with their most successful season on the field (13-4).  Junior Libby Feaster and senior Kristen Lee led the Lynx in the classroom each earning a 4.0 this past fall.  Rhodes placed more fall students athletes (101 total) on the team than any other SCAC institution.

Senior Kristen Lee, a defender from Louisville, KY, was selected to the SCAC Field Hockey All Sportsmanship Team.  A dedicated player, leader, and teammate, Lee continually serves as a role model for her peers exhibiting excellent sportsmanship at all times.

Charlie Wagner, a junior midfielder from Madison, NJ, was selected to the womensfieldhockey.com Weekly Honor Roll for her contributions in the Lynx SCAC Championship this weekend.  Charlie scored the game winning goal in overtime on a penalty stroke against Sewanee in the semifinals and assisted Lindsey Gurkovich's game winner in Sunday's Championship.

Junior Lindsey Gurkovich scored the game-winning goal just 51-seconds into the first overtime on Sunday afternoon, lifting Rhodes to a 2-1 victory over Depauw and giving Rhodes their 3rd SCAC Tournament Championship since 2004.

The Lynx beat Sewanee 2-1 in overtime to advance to tomorrow's conference championship.  Libby Feaster scored the Lynx first goal and Charlie Wagner followed with the game winner.  Rhodes will take the field at 11 am tomorrow and will face off against the winner of DePauw and Centre.

Charlie Wagner, a midfielder from Madison, NJ, earned SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for games played October 26-November 1.  Wagner scored both goals in the Lynx 2-1 overtime win at Centre this weekend.  Charlie is the first Rhodes player to earn both offensive and defensive player of the week honors in the same season.

Meghan Cullen, a senior goalkeeper from Chapel Hill, NC, earned SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played October 26 - November 1.  Cullen recorded the win in the Lynx 2-1 victory at Centre that clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title for the team.  Meghan is currently 3rd in the nation in save percentage at .872.

The Lynx field hockey game today at Transylvania has been cancelled due to poor field conditions.  The #1 seed in next weekend's conference tournament at Hendrix, Rhodes will play Saturday, November 7th, at 11 am.  The Lynx will face the winner of Sewanee vs. Hendrix.

The Lynx Field Hockey team clinched the SCAC Regular Season Title and the #1 seed in next weekend''s conference tournament with a 2-1 win in overtime at Centre tonight.  Charlie Wagner scored both goals for Rhodes on penalty corners on assists from Lindsey Gurkovich.  The Lynx (11-4, 7-1 SCAC) play at Transylvania tomorrow at 10:30 am.

Chris Conkell
Baseball
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Chris Conkell as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
The Lynx starting catcher managed a .458 batting average (22/48), 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored during the month of April. Durning this time, Conkell harnessed a 13 game hitting streak, hitting safely in every game for the month.
 
He was also named to the SCAC All-Tournament team after his performance in the conference tournament. His batting average of .412, 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored in the tournament led him to be one of three players who were unanimous selections to the team.
Stephanie Mingos
Women's Golf
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Stephanie Mingos as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
In the last month, Mingos put together an impressive campaign, winning three of her last four tournaments.  Her most recent victory came at the SCAC Championships, where Mingos captured Rhodes' first SCAC individual title since 2002, winning by a 6 stroke deficit over several of the nation's top players.
 
Her three day total of 14 over par is a new SCAC record, topping the previous mark of 17 over par by three-time SCAC champion Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern. Mingos' performance earned her first team All-SCAC and SCAC Player of the Year honors.

Rhodes College
