Brianna Maniscalco, St. Dominic High School (NY) standout has committed to attend Rhodes College in the fall of 2015.Â
Â
Brianna, a dual varsity sport athlete in high school (volleyball and softball) will devote her time solely to softball at the collegiate level. Athletically, she is a two time captain, multiple All-League honoree, and prep school Student Athlete Award recipient, she has also been selected one of the "Top 100 Players in Long Island", as well a "Player to Watch" by the
Newsday. Â In addition to her athletic abilities, Brianna has been incredibly influential at her school and in her community.
Academically, Brianna's been honored for her excellence earning spots on the Principal's List, Theodore Roosevelt Chapter of the National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica Honor Society, Elizabeth Blackwell Chapter of the NYS Science Honor Society, Math Honor Society and is an award winning member of the Future Business Leaders of America.Â
In her community, Brianna volunteers as a peer tutor and with her local Little League while logging nearly 20 hours a week with the NY BlueFire Fasptich organization (raising thousands in financial assistance for cancer research and feeding local less fortunate families). Brianna also remains active in her faith assisting her parish of St. Barnabas the Apostle Church with various tasks.
"What more can you say? It appears remarkably, Bri seems to have figured out how to work more than 24 hours in a single day…perhaps she can share that secret knowledge with us here at Rhodes?" Head Coach
Luke Wagner said with a chuckle before continuing. "Seriously though, I'm so happy Bri decided to attend Rhodes. She is going to flourish here over the next four years, in and out of the classroom, and I'm just honored to be a part of her development. I respect Bri's discipline, drive and passion. She wants to get the most out of every opportunity she is afforded, I love that attiude; that's the passion and the attitude we want all our young ladies to have. She is a great addition to our squad next fall."
While at Rhodes, Brianna will concentrate on pre-med studies.Â
