Three Men's Basketball Players Capture SCAC Awards

Jackson, Mississippi ~ As the SCAC season comes to an end this weekend it is time for the post season accolades to be handed out.  Rhodes College had three players earn awards for their outstanding performances over the 2009-2010 season.

 

Reid Hamilton (Birmingham, AL), a 6'6 forward, was named to the All-SCAC Third team.  Hamilton started all 26 games for the Lynx, leading them in scoring, with an average of 14.4 points.  His scoring average was good for 7th overall in the SCAC.  Hamilton averaged 6.2 rebounds per game which placed him 9th in the SCAC.  He was only one of four SCAC players to be in the top ten in both scoring and rebounding on the season.  Hamilton had three games where he recorded a double-double this season.  He scored a career high 26 points in a Lynx victory over Hendrix College on January 24th.  Hamilton also tied his career high of 12 rebounds on two separate occasions this season.  For his career, Reid scored 822 points and had 441 rebounds.

 

Kory Kilpatrick (Athens, GA), a 6'5 forward, was named Honorable Mention All-SCAC.  He started 24 of 26 games this season and led the Lynx in rebounding averaging 8.1 rebounds.  That average was good for third in the SCAC.  His 202 total rebounds were good for 5th in the SCAC.  Kilpatrick averaged 9.4 points for the Lynx this season.  This season Kilpatrick recorded three double-doubles.  He grabbed a SCAC season and career high 17 rebounds on December 8th versus Free Will.  Kilpatrick had 15 games this season where he grabbed at least 8 rebounds.  Kilpatrick scored a career high 22 points on February 7th against Oglethorpe University.

 

Freshman Andrew Galow (Oswego, IL), a 6'4 guard, was shared the SCAC Newcomer of the Year award.  Galow averaged 10.2 points per game to lead all SCAC freshman.  He started in 25 of 26 games this season, averaging 32.3 minutes per game, leading the Lynx.  That average was also good for 5th overall in the SCAC, the only freshman to be in the top 5.  Galow dished out 79 assists this season, second on the team, for an average of 3.2 assists per game.  He led the Lynx in free throw attempts with 97 and free throw percentage of 86.6%.  His free throw percentage was second in the SCAC.  Galow scored a career high of 27 points against Earlham College on November 28th, grabbed a career high 9 rebounds against Free Will on February 15th, and dished out a career high 9 assists against the University of Dallas on November 30th.
