Andrew Gibson begins his eight year at Rhodes College as Director of Athletic Training/Coordinator of Athletic Training and 20th year overall with the College. Gibson previously spent 10 years at Rhodes as head athletic trainer and two years as assistant athletic trainer.

He joined Rhodes College after completing an athletic training fellowship at Campbell Clinic. As part of the fellowship, Andrew worked with Rhodes College, Memphis Grizzlies (NBA), Memphis Express (semi-pro soccer), Bolton High School, FedEx Industrial, and Campbell Clinic physical therapy. He also participated in physician and casting rotations. During the fellowship, he served as the head athletic trainer for USA basketball at the 2005 Nike Hoops Summit. Prior to the Campbell Clinic fellowship, he served as the head athletic trainer for the Memphis Xplorers arena football team (AF2).

Gibson received his Master of Science degree from Murray State University. At Murray State he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the women’s basketball and baseball teams. Prior to being on the staff at Murray State, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis, where he served as a student athletic trainer, primarily serving the football and baseball teams. While working on his undergraduate degree, he also served as an intern athletic trainer for the Miami Dolphins during the summer, 1999.

Gibson is a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, NASM-Performance Enhancement Specialist and NASM-Corrective Exercise Specialist. He is additionally received course certification in Integrative Dry Needling (CIDN), IAR Sports Manual Therapy (SMTC), Owens Recovery Blood Flow Restriction (BFR), OnBase U Pitching, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Y Balance Test (YBT), and Functional Capacity Screen (FCS). He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Gibson was recognized in March 2017 by the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association (SEATA) as the College/University Athletic Trainer of the Year Award. Gibson was recognized in January 2016 by the Tennessee Athletic Training Society (TATS) as the Eugene Smith/Mickey O’Brien Tennessee College Athletic Trainer of the Year. Gibson was recognized in May 2015 by Rhodes College as the Outstanding Administrator Award.
