ATLANTA, Ga. - Junior defender Kelsey Sweeney earned Southern Athleitc Association Defensive Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend as she led the Rhodes College women's soccer team to a pair of conference wins.

Sweeney had a huge game winning goal against the Birmingham-Southern Panthers en route to a 2-0 win on the road. Sweeney would score on a corner kick in the 37th minute, heading it past the diving keeper for an early lead. Sweeney was also key defensively in the 2-1 double overtime win over Hendrix earlier in the week, providing a stout defensive effort.

For the season, Sweeney had started in all 11 contests for the Lynx, scoring her lone goal of the season on Saturday. She has been a huge part of the Rhodes defense that has only allowed 11 goals on the season as the team has earned five shutouts on the year.

Rhodes and Sweeney are back in action this upcoming weekend as they travel to Sewanee, Tenn. to take on the Univeristy of the South at 5 p.m.
