Six outstanding alumni and three teams have been selected for induction into the Rhodes Athletic Hall of Fame.  The induction luncheon will be held on Friday, October 19, at 11:00 AM in the McCallum Ballroom in the Bryan Campus Life Center.

Mike Truscott, Class of 62, was an outstanding tennis player and trend setting, soccer style placekicker for Southwestern.  He served as Captain of the tennis team his junior and senior years, when he played #1 for the Lynx.  During Mike's career Southwestern won two Tennessee Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.  Perhaps even more noteworthy, Mike was one of the first soccer style placekickers in football at the collegiate or professional levels in the United States.

Keith Arman, Class of 62, participated in basketball, cross-country and track for four years.  Keith served as Captain of the cross-country and track teams.  In basketball Keith was an outstanding defender and rebounder, and averaged 10 points/game his junior and senior years.  Keith was a mainstay on the Lynx track teams running the mile and 2-mile.  As Coach Freeman Marr stated, “Keith may be one of the hardest working, most improved athletes I ever coached.”  Keith served as Commissioner of Athletics and was selected to Who's Who.

Todd Robbins, Class of 72, earned All College Athletic Conference (CAC) honors in 1970 and 1971 as a defensive back.  He was the mainstay in the secondary for the Lynx squad which posted a 7-1 record and captured the CAC title.  Perhaps one of the fastest defensive backs to ever play on Fargason Field, Todd was one of the top sprinters in the CAC and was a member of the 440 yard relay team, which still holds the school record.  During Todd's three years on the track team the Lynx captured three CAC titles.  Todd was an outstanding student earning majors in English and Biochemistry.

Marvin Spears, Class of 90, was an outstanding defensive back and record setting high jumper.  Marvin held the school record in the high jump for 10 years with a leap of 6' 8 ½”.  As a three year starter at defensive back the Lynx compiled a 22-3-2 record, including a trip to the NCAA Division III national playoffs his junior year.  Marvin earned All College Athletic Conference (CAC) honors his junior and senior year.  He was awarded the Seidman Trophy in 1990, which is awarded to the senior student-athlete who exhibits excellence both in the classroom and on the athletic field.

Brian Vandegrift, Class of 94, was one of the top receivers in the nation during his junior and senior seasons.  Brian still holds the Rhodes single season record of 78 receptions, which he accomplished during the 1993 season.  He was selected the Co-SCAC Offensive Player of the Year and his teammates selected him to receive the James H. Daughdrill Award, awarded to the Most Valuable Player on the Rhodes Football Team.  Brian was also an outstanding baseball player where he was a 4-year starter earning 1st Team All-SCAC honors in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

Kate Maffei McGuinness, Class of 98, was a four year starter as an outside hitter for the Lynx.  Kate earned USVCA All Region honors her junior and senior seasons and was selected All-SCAC during her freshman and senior seasons.  Kate holds school records for Career Kills (1875), Career Kills/Game (3.56), Most Career Aces (445) and Most Career Aces/Game (.84).  She also ranks in the top five all-time in 4 other categories.
Kate was also a 4-year lettermen in basketball for the Lynx where she started at forward for three years.

The 1968-69 basketball team compiled a 22-3 record and captured the College Athletic Conference title.
