BLOOMINGTON, IN - Several members of the Men's Track & Field team competed this past weekend at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University, with several notable performances despite the strong winds and weather delays that ensued.
Junior Andrew Maryott (East Dennis, MA) competed in both the discus and hammer throw against extremely competitive fields comprised of mainly Division I and Division II athletes. His discus throw of 142'1” (43.31m) placed him in twenty-third place while his hammer throw of 163'1” (49.70m) placed sixteenth overall.
In the other throwing events senior co-captain Greg Cook (Bellaire, TX) had a very strong performance in the javelin, placing fifth out of sixteen competitors with a distance of 177'6” (54.11m). Cook also anchored the 4x400m relay team of senior Cory Dardenne (Kingwood, TX), freshman Dan Sutherland (Highland Park, TX), and senior co-captain Anson Purdy (Wesfield, NJ) to a sixth place finish in a time of 3:25.40, improving greatly upon their twelfth place seeding.
Several members of the Lynx squad will compete next weekend at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville, IL.
