Play suspended after 11 holes at SCAC Golf Championships

Play was suspended after 11 holes at the SCAC Golf Championships being contested at the Stonemont Course at Stone Mountain, GA.  At approximately 12:32 pm tournament officials suspended play due to lightning and severe weather near the golf course.  The original goal was to resume play at 5:00 pm to play the final 7 holes of the 2nd round.

It continued to rain and at 2:00 pm tournament officials officially postponed the 2nd round until Sunday morning.  Players will tee off at 8:15 am to conclude their final 7 holes of the 2nd round.  At 10:30am the final holes will be played.

Stephanie Mingos' 79 (par 74) was the best 1st round score in the women's tournament.  "When play was suspended Stephanie was really playing great golf," said Coach Clary.  "I know she's looking forward to playing the final 7 holes and finishing with a strong 2nd round score."

The Lynx men were tied for 3rd after the initial 18 holes, three strokes off the lead.  "We're very hopeful for great weather on Sunday so we can complete the entire 54 holes of the tournament," said Lynx coach Bill Cochran.  "An NCAA tournament berth is at stake and we need all the holes we can play to make up some ground."
