Bookmark and Share

Jami King was named to the inaugural SCAC Women’s Golf All-Sportsmanship team. Ten women’s golfers were selected to the 2009 squad.  Jami is a sophomore from Sand Springs, OK and played #5 for the Lynx in 2008-09.

"Jami has a great demeanor on the golf course.  She always congratulates her playing partners on good shots, and even when she's having a tough day, Jami exemplifies great sportsmanship," said Lynx head coach Mike Clary.  "She's very deserving to be named to this team."

The SCAC is placing a special emphasis on sportsmanship this year – asking all fans of the conference to exhibit good sportsmanship at all conference functions throughout the 2008-2009 season.

Each coach was asked to elect one member from their team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Stephanie Mingos as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.

In the last month, Mingos put together an impressive campaign, winning three of her last four tournaments.  Her most recent victory came at the SCAC Championships, where Mingos captured Rhodes' first SCAC individual title since 2002, winning by a 6 stroke deficit over several of the nation's top players.

Her three day total of 14 over par is a new SCAC record, topping the previous mark of 17 over par by three-time SCAC champion Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern. Mingos' performance earned her first team All-SCAC and SCAC Player of the Year honors.
