"Joe was selected from among 100 candidates who applied for the position and he clearly was the top choice of our search committee" said Coach Clary.

Vari is a 2003 graduate of Hiram College where he was a four year starter as goalkeeper and was named MVP of the men's soccer team for the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons.  After graduating from Hiram, Vari became an assistant coach at Lynchburg College, where he received his Master's of Education in School Counseling.  While at Lynchburg,  the women's soccer team made two Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite 8 appearace in the NCAA tournament.  He also led the men's team at Lynchburg to an NCAA berth and the team's first ODAC conference championship since the mid-80's.

"I am very excited to build on the momentum that was built by former women's coach Bobby Lessentine.  I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead with our returning players."  stated new Head Women's Coach Joe Vari.
