Kelli Zomer, a freshman utility infielder/outfielder from Grand Rapids, Mich., has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 30 through Sunday, April 5.
Zomer led a Rhodes offense that averaged over 6.5 runs per game in eight games against tough competition this week, as the Lynx went 5-3 against Division II Christian Brothers, Mississippi College and Millsaps. Zomer reached base 19 times in 29 plate appearances for a .655 on base percentage, while hitting .522 (12-for-23) with 10 runs scored, eight RBIs, three doubles and four home runs.
In Saturday's 12-1 win over Millsaps, Zomer belted two home runs, going 2-for-3 with a walk and four RBIs. Zomer hit safely in 7 of 8 games this week, and reached base in every game.
Zomer is hitting .442 on the season with a SCAC leading 8 home runs. This is the 4th consecutive week a Rhodes player has earned SCAC Player of the Week honors, and the 5th time in 8 weeks overall.
