The women's track and field team had another successful weekend in Oxford, MS at the Ole Miss Invitational. The hurdlers and sprinters ran very well against some of the best sprint cores in Division I track and field. Junior Kristin Forbes had another weekend of solid performances in the 100 and 200 with times of 12.49 and 25.45 respectively. Sophomore Sany Henin had the top performance in the 400 with a time of 58.94, and junior Elizabeth Bernard recorded a top time in the 400 hurdles of 1:11.34. In the 100 hurdles, senior Alanna Topps returned from injury to run a top time of 15.63. The 4x400 relay team had an outstanding performance running 3:56.93 with the team of Henin, junior Julia Goss, Forbes, and senior Emily Broocks. The 4x100 relay team didn't disappoint either running a season best time of 49.79 with the team of Goss, Forbes, freshman Kyla Graham, and sophomore Jessie Ormand.
Julia Goss had the best mark of 16' 6.5" in the long jump, and Jessie Ormand had the top mark in the triple jump of 34' 1.5". Junior Kim Tryon had another solid performance recording a mark of 10' 6" in the pole vault. Senior Kara Purdy had the top performances in the discus, hammer, and javelin throws of 89' 2", 92' 7", and 81' 6" respectively.
In the distance events, freshman Taylor Stephens had a top ten finish in the 5000 with a time of 17:58.61. Sophomore Kelsey Dudziak recorded the top time in the 1500 with a 5:14.28, and Emily Broocks recorded a time of 2:23.84 in the 800. Senior Stephanie Spurgat ran a time of 13:25.22 in her first steeple ever.
The women's team will have one more tune up meet on April 18th at the University of Memphis before the conference championship on April 24th and 25th.
