The story begins, &ldquo;It was a carefree summer day last July as Claire Cordua headed to the beach with her boyfriend near her hometown of San Diego, Calif. Since its inception in the fall of 1997, just over 16,600 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions inthe classroom.  Rhodes ranked 3rd overall this spring for the total number of students with a 3.25 GPA and higher.

DeGeorge most recently served as the Head Basketball Coach at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where he transformed the Cornell program from 3 wins in 2005-06 to 21 wins in 2008-09.  The 2008-09 Cornell squad captured the school&rsquo;s first Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Championship and earned the school&rsquo;s first NCAA tournament berth in fifteen years.
