After five weeks of grueling preseason workouts, the Rhodes Men's Swimming and Diving Team opened the 2011-2012 season with a 109-71 win over the visiting Austin College Roos. The Lynx grabbed momentum early as
Alex Herran, freshman
Campbell Delahoyde,
Erik Campbell, and
Ryan Berger touched first in the 400 Medley Relay thanks to a 52.5 Butterfly leg from Campbell and a gutsy anchor leg from Berger. Not to be outdone, freshman
Chad Bohls kept the ball rolling with a victory in his first collegiate race, touching in first at 10:46.19 in the 1000 Freestyle. Bohls later showcased his versatility by winning the 100 Free in a time of 51.58.
Erik Campbell and
Alex Rejaee joined Bohls as double winners, with Campbell taking the 500 and 50 Freestyles, and Rejaee taking the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Other event winners included
Matthew Washnock in the 200 Freestyle, and
Alex Herran with a come from behind victory in the 100 Butterfly. The Lynx look to continue their momentum as they travel to Conway, AR October 28-29 for the Hendrix Invitational.
