The Rhodes Athletic Department celebrated the accomplishments of all their student athletes and teams last night during their annual athletic banquet held in McCallum Ballroom. Seniors
Andy Boucher (Baseball/Football) and
Becca Clarin (Basketball/Soccer) were named the Walter E. Gay and Rebecca Rish Gay Award Winners, which is awarded to the top senior female athlete and the top senior male athlete in the athletic department.
The Rebecca Rishy Gay and Walter E. Gay Awards were established in 1997 in honor of the parents of Mrs. Libby Daughdrill, wife of past President James Daughdrill. The Rebeccca Rish Gay Award honors the outstanding senior female athlete of the year while the Walter E. Gay Award honors the outstanding senior male athlete of the year.
Andy Boucher hails from Germantown, TN and will graduate in May with a degree in Neuroscience. In his time at Rhodes, he was named All SCAC in football twice, he is a two time CoSida Academic All American honoree, 2009 captain of the football team and finished 2nd on the team in tackles with 83 for the 2009 season. As a second baseman for the Lynx, he hit .321 on the year. Earlier this year it was announced that Boucher was awarded a NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship, which he will use as he attends medical school this fall.
Becca Clarin hails from Clarendon Hills, IL and will graduate in May with a degree in Economics. Clarin was part of the first ever women's soccer team to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament after the team claimed the SCAC championship in 2008. Throughout her four years as the team's goalie, Clarin has been named 1st team All SCAC twice, team MVP her junior and senior year, 1st Team All South Region honors her junior season and the program's first ever All- American selection in 2008, being named to the 3rd team. She finishes her career with a staggering 0.82 goals against average. For the women's basketball team, Clarin averaged 8.9 points per game for the Lynx and was second on the team in 3 point field goals made as she led the team to a top 4 finish at the SCAC Basetball Tournament.

The SAAC Scholar Athletes were also honored during the banquet. A junior female student athlete and a junior male student athlete are awarded this honor for their athletic accomplishments to date, their outstanding academic achievement and any other experiential learning opportunities. This year's award recepients were Sandy Henin and
Hunter Chandler. Henin is a member of the Women's Cross Country and Track Teams while Chandler is pitcher on the baseball team.
