CONWAY, AR - The Rhodes Women's Track & Field team come out on top for the third time in as many years at the SCAC Championships Meet hosted by Hendrix College. Finishing with 228.5 points to runner-up DePauw's 189.5, the Lynx outperformed their competition to cement their status as a juggernaut of SCAC Track & Field.
Outstanding performances abounded across all events, both on the track and on the field. Winning the triple jump, the long jump, and the 200m dash was freshman Sam Specht (Saint Petersburg, FL). In the 100m dash freshman Lindsay Svehla (Bellevue, NE) edged out the runner-up by .01 seconds to capture first place honors. Sophomore Taylor Stephens (Southlake, TX) won the 10,000m run in a very well-executed race, and senior co-captain Cybil Covic (Cordova, TN) was victorious in the 3,000m steeplechase. Junior Molly Buck (Austin, TX) was first in both the 100m and 400m hurdles, and anchored the team of freshman Megan Lee (Castro Valley, CA), Specht, and senior co-captain Julia Goss (St. Louis, MO) to a first place finish. In the 4x100m relay of Goss, Specht, sophomore Kyla Graham (St. Louis, MO), Svehla dominated the field to win by almost two and half seconds, smashing the previous SCAC record.
It was a fantastic way to close off a truly excellent season for the Lynx.
