The Rhodes College baseball team defeated Millsaps College 7-1 this afternoon at Stauffer Field.  The Lynx jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning behind homeruns by juniors Chris Conkell and Matt Gilbert.  Rhodes would extend their lead to 6-1 after the third and put up another run in the bottom of the sixth.  Freshman Jackson Baker collected his 2nd victory of the season and junior Hunter Chandler picked up his 3rd save.  Rhodes is now 11-3 on the year.

Baker, in his 2nd collegiate start, went 6 innings, allowed 8 hits, 1 earned run,  struck out 5, and no walks.  Baker is now 2-0 on the year.  Chandler entered the game in the top of the 7th and would work the final three innings en route to his third save of the season.  Chandler allowed 2 hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out 1.

The Lynx offense was led by junior RF Matt Gilbert who was 3-3 on the day with a homerun, double, drove in 2, scored once, walked once, and stole a base.  Sophomore LF Travis Perkins was 2-2 with a double, 3 walks, and scored twice.  Junior CF Andy Meier was 2-3 with a walk, scored twice, and stole 2 bases.  Junior C Chris Conkell was 1-3 on the day with a homerun, run scored, 2 RBIs, and walked once.

Rhodes will return to action this Friday with a double header against MacMurray College at 12:00 and Marietta College at 3:00.  Both games will be played at AutoZone Park in downtown Memphis.

Andrew Galow
Men's Basketball
Currently leading the Lynx in scoring for the 2011-2012 season, Galow averages 15.3 points per game and has helped the team to their current record of 12-6.  Andrew also boasts some impressive stats; currently leading the team in scoring, assists, steals, and defensive rebounds.  Earning conference recognition, Galow was named the SCAC Player of the Week for 11/28-5/5.

Women's Basketball
As the co-captain of the 2011-2012 squad, Sharwil has continued to dominate on the hard-court for the Lady Lynx.  On December 29th, she became the 13th player in school history to surpass the 1,000 point mark, averaging 16.6 points per game throughout her career.  Her accolades for this season include d3hoops.com preseason All-American, SCAC Player of the Week (12/19- 1/2), and SCAC Character and Community Athlete of the Week (12/25-1/1).
