Rhodes rallied from a 14-3 2nd quarter deficit to upend Centre College 38-31 before a homecoming crowd of 2500 at Fargason Field, on Saturday, October 30th.
Sophomore quarterback
Tyler Perkins threw for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Lynx comeback. Perkins also rushed for 36 yards and one touchdown to account for 332 yards of total offense.
The Lynx defense came up big with two turnovers. Senior defensive back
Pete Bilan intercepted a Tyler Osterman pass on the last play of the first half at the Lynx 10 yard-line, as Rhodes took a 17-14 lead into intermission.
Senior linebacker
Andrew Meier had a big fumble recovery in the third quarter that setup a Lynx touchdown. Two plays after Meier recovered a fumble at the Colonels 38 yard-line, Perkins connected with senior tight end
Kyle Pipkin for a 35 yard touchdown pass that gave Rhodes a 31-21 lead with 4:02 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Centre cut the lead to 31-28 on an Osterman one yard run with 14:29 to play in the 4th quarter. However; Rhodes responded with a 9 play 74 yard drive, that was capped by a 3 yard touchdown run by senior running back
Matt Gilbert, to give the Lynx a 38-28 lead with 9:40 to play. For the day Gilbert rushed 17 times for 62 yards.
Centre cut the margin to a touchdown with 3:30 to play on a 34 yard field goal by kicker Jordan Gay. A Rhodes rushing first down by Perkins sealed the win on the Lynx last drive of the day.
Rhodes improves to 3-5 on the season.
