Becky Atnip hit two free throws with 10 seconds to play to seal the Lynx win.
Atnip who finished with 18 points on the day, also became the 11th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark in women's basketball. "Becky has been such a joy to coach these past 4 years," said Lynx head Coach
Matt Dean. "You will not find a player anywhere that works harder on a day to day basis then
Becky Atnip."
The Lynx appeared to have the game in complete control leading 71-57 with 8 minutes to play. However, the Panthers went on a 17-4 run to cut the lead to 75-74 with just over a minute to play. Sophomore center
Jenilee Pate knocked down a free throw to make it 76-74 with 50 seconds to play, before Atnip made the final two free throws to ice the game.
Pate scored 18 points and senior guard
Becca Clarin added 16 points and junior guard LaKeya McGill poured in 15 points to lead the Lynx to their fifth victory in their last six games. The Lynx improve to 8-5 overall and will host the University of Dallas on Tuesday, January 12th in Mallory Gymnasium.
