Lynx Lose Heartbreaker

Hendrix forward Christina Byler made a four foot jumper with 2.9 seconds to play to lift the Warriors to a 71-69 SCAC win over Rhodes in Mallory Gymnasium on January 24th.  Byler's jumper negated a Lynx second half comeback that saw Rhodes rally from a 17 point deficit to tie the game at 69-69 with 31 seconds to play.
Senior Becky Atnip converted a conventional three point play on a 17 foot jump shot and a Hendrix foul by Samantha Devlin. The Lynx were led by Jenilee Pate's 22 points and LaKeya McGill added a season high 20 points. The Warriors seemed in control after Amanda Morris knocked down a three point shot to give Hendrix a 50-33 lead with 15:23 to play.
However, the Lynx fought back with a 11-0 run to cut the margin to 50-44 on a McGill layup with 11:47 to play.  A three point basket by Hendrix guard Anna Roane gave the Warriors a 69-62 lead with 1:47 to play. The Lynx would go on a 7-0 run over the next 1:16 to tie the game at 69-69 before the Warriors scored on their final possesion for the victory.
Rhodes falls to 10-8 on the season, Hendrix improves to 12-3.
