Freshman Allie Bankart fired an 83 in her first collegiate round to lead the Lynx in the opening round of the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic being played at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.  Nicole Jones and Stephanie Mingos shot 84's, and Maddie Callis had a 99 and Christy Siegel a 101 to round out the scoring for the Lynx.  The Lynx stand in 11th place out of 20 teams in the team standings.

"Allie shot 39 on the back nine and a 44 on the front nine to card her 83.  She's got a solid swing and I look for Allie to really help our team," said Lynx head coach Mike Clary.  "Allie's 83 was one of the top scores by a freshman in the first round of the  tournament.  I'm really excited about Allie's potential to have a great year."

Nicole Jones shot a 41 on her 2nd 9, which included a great putting nine of 13 putts.  "I'm really proud of Nicole's round today.  She didn't hit the ball that well in her practice round yesterday, but she got focused today to shoot 84," said Coach Clary.

Stephanie Mingos has been having back issues since returning from a summer abroad trip to Argentina this summer, so she wasn't able to practice or play much golf before arriving to Rhodes in late August.  "Stephanie is one of the toughest, best competitors I've coached in my 31 years at Rhodes.  She and Drew Gibson, our head athletic trainer, have been working hard on her back the past two weeks and her back is feeling better.  She hit some good shots today, but had 2-3 holes which cost her a good score," said Coach Clary.  "I look for Stephanie to play well tomorrow."
