Men's Track and Field Team Competes at the Washington University Invitational

The men's team had an outstanding weekend in St. Louis at the Washington University Invitational.  The weekend started off with the Distance Carnival on Friday night where senior Mark Handelman and sophomore Josh Deaton recorded top five finishes in the steeplechase and 10,000 meters respectively. 

On Saturday, the Lynx men continued to heat up the track.  Freshman Cody Beatty and senior Steele French finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 1500 meters.  Freshman Evan Nelsen also recorded a top five finish in the 800 meters.  The short and long sprint core had a very successful day on the track with top times recorded by sophomore Greg Palm in the 100 and 200 and junior Greg Cook in the 400.  Junior Anson Purdy was seventh overall in the 400 hurdles and was part of the 4x400 meter relay which ran a season best time of 3:24.85.  The men's 4x100 meter relay also ran a season best time of 43.04 good for fifth overall.  

In the field, sophomore Andrew Maryott continued his incredible season by breaking his own hammer throw record again and recorded a top five finish in the discus throw.  Freshman Alex Lippincott recorded a top five finish in the high jump and a top ten finish in the long jump.

The Lynx men will continue the season at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, MS on Saturday.
