Women's track compete at home to open the 2009 outdoor season

The women's track and field team came out and did well in the team's season opener at Rhodes College today.  There were a mix of Division I, II and III in the 21 team field.  Rhodes' women had solid performances to start the year off on a good note.

Junior Julia Goss (13.33) and Kyla Graham (13.40) finished well in the 100 meters.  Sandy Henin ran a great 800 meters coming in at 2:18.49. 

The 100 meter hurdles crew of Alanna Topps (16.29), Molly Buck (16.52), Jessie Ormand (16.97), Elizabeth Bernard (17.82) and Rachel Bernard (17.88) had a good day to start the year.

Buck started where she left off last year by running very well in the 400 meter hurdles finishing in 1:06.18.  E. Bernard and R. Bernard came in right behind, 1:10.50 and 1:10.84 respectively.

Freshman Taylor Stephens did well in 5000 meters coming in at 18:11.37.  Anna Johnson also had a strong race finishing in 19:39.99.

The women's 400 relay consisting of Goss, Forbes, Graham and Buck came through at 50.91.  The 1600 meter relay with Henin, Forbes, Goss and Buck also ran a great race and crossed the line in 3:59.71.
