Rhodes Tops Sewanee

    Lucas Stockhausen connected on a 42 yard field goal in overtime as the Rhodes defense held on a goal line stand in overtime to preserve a 19-16 win against the University of the South, at Fargason Field on Saturday, November 14th.
    On a fourth and goal from the Lynx one yard-line in overtime,  the Tigers decided to go for the win. Lynx freshman defensive back Brian Walton came from the weakside to make a tackle in the backfield and end the game.
    The Tigers rallied on their last possession of regulation to tie the  game at 16-16.  Tiger quarterback Patrick Shelton led a Sewanee drive of 10 plays for 76 yards, and hit wide receiver Chalankis Brown on a 11 yard pass with 9 seconds to play to tie the game.
    Rhodes had taken a 16-9 lead early in the 4th quarter on a 46 yard touchdown run by senior running back Josh McMurray. For the day McMurray led all rushers with 105 yards on 17 carries.  The Lynx were led on defense by junior linebacker Andrew Meier who had 14 tackles. Senior defensive back Andy Boucher had 10 tackles for the Lynx, who recorded 5 quarterback sacks on the day.
    Rhodes finishes the season 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the SCAC.
