10/10/2009 11:04:53 PM

After a week off from competition, the Rhodes College Women's Cross Country Team continued their impressive season with a 3rd place finish in the College Division at the Gibson Family Collegiate Cross Country Meet.  The race was held at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course home to the Division I National Championships in Terre Haute, IN.  The women's team faced stiff competition within the College Division which consisted of Division III teams.  The race itself featured runners from all three divisions of the NCAA.
Continuing her break out season was senior Melissa DeFabrizio with an 8th place finish overall in the College Division with a time of 23:28 for 6k.  She was followed closely by fellow senior Cybil Covic in 9th place with a time of 23:31.  Rounding out the top seven were sophomore Taylor Stephens in 23:47, junior Kelsey Dudziak in 24:28, junior Sandy Henin in 24:33, junior Anna Johnson in 24:43, and junior Marianne Kirk in 25:16.
Sadly the women's team will not be participating at the Mississippi College Invitational because of the unsatisfactory condition of the course due to rain.  The next meet for the women will be the SCAC Conference Championships held in Atlanta, GA on October 31st.  Please come support our Lynx as they look to claim the conference title.  Go Lynx!
