In a ten team field, the Lynx finished 5th (120 points) at the SCAC Championship Meet in Atlanta.  Colorado College captured the team title, scoring 45 points.

  The men's team traveled to Terre Haute, IN this past weekend to take on some of the top teams in the Midwest at the Gibson Family Collegiate Cross Country Invitational.

  With a brand new home course at Shelby Farms the men's team was eager to put on a show at the Rhodes Invitational.  They did so by finishing first place on Saturday morning with a score of 57 points.

11.22.08 | Men's Cross Country
Senior Mark Handelman finished in a time of 25:57 to capture 162nd place out of 278 runners.  Mark was the only male student-athlete to compete for Rhodes at the NCAA Championships in Hanover, IN.  Handelman had an outstanding senior year by garnering All-Conference and All-Region honors.

11.15.08 | Men's Cross Country
Mark Handelman (SR)  ran a 26:12 to place 14th at the NCAA South/Southeast Region in Seguin, TX.  Handelman qualified for next weekends race at the National Championships in Hanover, IN.  The men's team finished off the year with a great performance to place fourth overall.

11.1.08 | Men's Cross Country
The Lynx Men began the post season with a fourth place finish at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Cross Country Championship.  The men were led by their captain Mark Handelman, who finished in sixth place in his last SCAC meet.  The team compiled a score of 90 points with Chris Moore placing 16th, Cody Beatty in 18th, Josh Deaton in 20th, and Lucas Warth in 30th place.

10.19.08 | Men's Cross Country

The Men's Cross Country Team traveled to Oshkosh, WI this weekend to compete in the UW-Oshkosh/Brooks Invitational. Finishing 18th out of 33 teams, the Lynx faced several nationally ranked programs, including 6 of the top 20 among NCAA Dvision III.

10.5.08 | Men's Cross Country
Hanover College is the site of the NCAA Championships this year and the men got a first hand look at the course.  The race was filled with teams from all over the nation.  The race included teams ranked in the Division III Cross Country Polls, and regional opponents Centre College, UT-Tyler, and Christopher Newport.

9.27.08 | Men's Cross Country
The men's cross country team place 1st of 12 teams on their home course.  They scored 41 points to be ahead of second place finishers, Christian Brothers University who had 62.  The top seven finishers for the lynx were in the top 16 overall.  Leading the men were Mark Handelman who placed 4th (26:51).

9.24.08 | Men's Cross Country
Senior Mark Handelman was named Runner of the Week for his effort this past weekend at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic.  Handelman ran evenly throughout the race to finish in a time of 26:50.  He moved up through the pack to finish in 9th place out of 77 runners .  Mark is team captain this year and has been first across the line for the Lynx men in their first two races.

Chris Conkell
Baseball
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Chris Conkell as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
The Lynx starting catcher managed a .458 batting average (22/48), 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored during the month of April. Durning this time, Conkell harnessed a 13 game hitting streak, hitting safely in every game for the month.
 
He was also named to the SCAC All-Tournament team after his performance in the conference tournament. His batting average of .412, 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored in the tournament led him to be one of three players who were unanimous selections to the team.
Stephanie Mingos
Women's Golf
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee has named junior Stephanie Mingos as the Student Athlete of the Month for April.
 
In the last month, Mingos put together an impressive campaign, winning three of her last four tournaments.  Her most recent victory came at the SCAC Championships, where Mingos captured Rhodes' first SCAC individual title since 2002, winning by a 6 stroke deficit over several of the nation's top players.
 
Her three day total of 14 over par is a new SCAC record, topping the previous mark of 17 over par by three-time SCAC champion Marisa Mauldin of Southwestern. Mingos' performance earned her first team All-SCAC and SCAC Player of the Year honors.
